Our Tropical, Coastal Wedding

Hello! It has been quite some time since I have blogged about anything. I lost my mojo being caught up two’ing and fro’ing to Sydney for work, which I love and being full time mum. Not to mention planning a wedding too! It really has been fun albeit a little challenging but it also mean’t that everything else fell to the wayside.

So, I thought I would share with you a little about our big day…. It was perfect, we chose the Anchorage in Port Stephens for our venue, the most beautiful waterfront location for a laid back coastal vibe.
My design goal was not intentionally Tropical Luxe, it was a natural progression. I was conscious that I wanted to add texture and tones which were tactile and welcoming. To create a space which was easy to connect with and most of all made my guests relax.

To start, I fell in love with some fabric first which then set the tone for how I planned the styling. A shoot loot from Inside Out Mag with Jono Fleming saw me painstakingly removing and preserving wallpaper for my backdrop (well worth the pain!) and it was a match made in heaven for the fabric I had sourced.
All props were either thrifted or made in house by my clever husband under strict supervision and are available to hire.

I found my Photographer, Mel of Stories with Mel and my Florist, Rachael, Botanica Bird and together I was confident and relaxed that I had assembled my dream team.

I also new that I wanted a natural light photographer so Mel was the perfect choice and really captured stunning photos which we will treasure for many years to come.
Rachael was incredible and from her work you can see why I chose her to style the florals. The brief was so loose as I wanted her to create something without too many restrictions so that her unique style could shine through in her craft. The result was bold and structural blooms which were grounded with soft earthy tones.

I sometimes felt a little lost when looking for vendors during wedding planning so I have included a list of the most wonderful people who can help you make your day perfect!
